Civil Litigation Associate
This position is ideal for a barred attorney with exceptional writing skills, strong judgment, and the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, client‑focused litigation environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft and argue substantive motions, including motions to dismiss, summary judgment motions, and applications for temporary restraining orders and injunctive relief.
- Conduct in‑depth legal research and prepare memoranda, briefs, and appellate submissions.
- Assist with trial preparation, including witness preparation, deposition strategy, and evidentiary analysis.
- Support representation of professionals, students, faculty, and executives in sensitive administrative, disciplinary, and investigatory proceedings.
- Participate in strategic client counseling on complex, high‑exposure matters.
- Work closely with senior attorneys on case strategy from inception through resolution.
Representative Matters
- Defamation and high‑profile media litigation.
- Title IX sexual misconduct and harassment proceedings involving students and faculty.
- Civil rights and discrimination litigation against major institutions.
- Emergency applications for TROs and injunctive relief.
- Defense of professionals in licensing, tenure, and disciplinary proceedings.
- Complex negligence and personal injury litigation.
Qualifications
- 3-4 years of litigation experience at a law firm or comparable setting.
- Admission to the New York Bar (required).
- Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Experience with motion practice and discovery strongly preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously with precision and efficiency.
- Strong communication skills and comfort working directly with clients.
- Interest in sophisticated, high‑stakes litigation with meaningful responsibility.
