Contract to Hire Trust & Estate Paralegal
Position Overview
A professional services firm is seeking an experienced Trusts & Estates Paralegal to support attorneys with the administration of estates and trusts. This role involves managing a high volume of detailed work related to estate settlement, trust administration, and fiduciary accounting.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively, taking ownership of matters from initiation through completion while ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and exceptional client service.
This role requires strong analytical ability, attention to detail, and comfort working with financial data, as well as the ability to support clients during sensitive situations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with all aspects of estate and trust administration, including managing matters from start to finish
- Collect, organize, and value assets and assist in preparing probate filings and related documentation
- Prepare fiduciary accountings for estates and trusts
- Support the preparation of federal and state estate and inheritance tax returns
- Review and analyze estate planning documents (e.g., wills and trust agreements) with attorneys to ensure proper execution of estate plans
- Conduct basic research using legal and financial reference materials
- Maintain organized records and ensure compliance with deadlines and court requirements
- Communicate professionally with clients, beneficiaries, and external parties
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and/or paralegal certification (or equivalent experience)
- Experience in trusts and estates, probate administration, or related practice area preferred
- Familiarity with court procedures and regulatory requirements
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and PDF/document management systems
- Experience with tax preparation and accounting software is a plus
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- High level of discretion and understanding of confidentiality standards
