Personal Injury Paralegal – Records Review Specialist
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and detail‑driven Personal Injury Paralegal with strong experience in medical records retrieval, organization, and evaluation. This role supports attorneys in all stages of personal injury claims and litigation, ensuring case files are complete, accurate, and strategically prepared for negotiation or trial. Key Responsibilities
Case Management & Client Support
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, providing updates, gathering information, and maintaining professional communication throughout the case lifecycle.
- Open, organize, and maintain case files, ensuring all documents, correspondence, and records are properly indexed and accessible.
Medical Records Retrieval & Review
- Request, track, and obtain medical records, billing records, incident reports, and insurance information from hospitals, clinics, and other providers.
- Perform detailed medical records reviews to identify injuries, treatments, pre‑existing conditions, gaps in care, and potential issues impacting liability or damages.
- Summarize medical records into concise, attorney‑ready chronologies and case summaries.
- Prepare medical expense logs, lien summaries, and damages spreadsheets for settlement evaluation.
Documentation & Drafting
- Draft demand packages, including medical narrative summaries, supporting documentation, and legal argument sections as needed.
- Prepare litigation documents such as discovery responses, subpoenas, notices, and routine pleadings (depending on jurisdictional requirements).
- Organize and index exhibits, evidence, treatment timelines, and settlement materials.
Support for Negotiation & Litigation
- Assist attorneys in preparing files for mediation, arbitration, depositions, and trial.
- Coordinate expert evaluations, IMEs, and provider statements as needed.
- Monitor deadlines, statutes of limitations, and required filings to ensure compliance.
Qualifications
Required
- 2+ years of experience as a paralegal in personal injury, insurance defense, or medical-legal roles.
- Strong expertise in reviewing, summarizing, and interpreting medical records.
- Familiarity with personal injury processes including pre‑suit, negotiations, and litigation procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly proficient with case management systems, document management software, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and time management.
