Senior Tax Manager
Role Overview
The Senior Tax Manager will oversee tax compliance and planning for a diverse portfolio of entities and individuals, with a strong emphasis on hedge fund structures and partnership taxation. This role requires technical expertise, strategic thinking, and the ability to manage relationships with internal stakeholders and external advisors.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead preparation and review of complex federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, trusts, and investment entities.
- Develop and implement tax planning strategies to optimize after-tax returns for family members and entities.
- Manage tax implications of hedge fund investments, including carried interest, K-1 allocations, and partnership structures.
- Oversee quarterly and annual tax estimates and projections.
- Collaborate with investment and legal teams on structuring transactions and entity formations.
- Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations impacting hedge funds and UHNW individuals.
- Coordinate with external tax advisors and auditors as needed.
- Mentor and guide junior tax staff.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required, MST or JD preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 8-10 years in tax, with significant exposure to hedge funds, partnerships, and UHNW clients.
- Deep knowledge of partnership taxation, hedge fund structures, and alternative investments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- Proficiency in tax software and advanced Excel skills.
