Labor & Employment Counsel (Contract)

This opportunity is being conducted on a highly confidential basis. Candidates are expected to maintain absolute discretion throughout the interview process and, if appointed, during their engagement. Due to the sensitive nature of the assignment and internal staffing considerations, details regarding the organization will be disclosed only to selected candidates.
Unlike a purely administrative legal role, the successful candidate will be empowered to negotiate directly with employees, external counsel, and other stakeholders to resolve contractual matters efficiently and independently.
The position is best suited for a commercially minded employment attorney who combines strong technical legal expertise with excellent judgment, discretion, and stakeholder management capabilities.
Key Responsibilities

Draft, review, negotiate, and manage a broad range of employment-related agreements, including:
- Employment agreements
- Offer letters
- Retention agreements
- Restrictive covenant agreements
- Confidentiality and non-disclosure agreements
- Separation and release agreements
- Compensation-related documentation
- Independent contractor and consulting agreements

Act as the primary legal contact for employment contract negotiations involving:
- Human Resources
- Operations
- Finance
- Technology
- Risk and Compliance
- Other corporate support functions

Directly negotiate contractual terms with employees, candidates, legal representatives, and external advisors.

Advise HR and business stakeholders on employment-law risks and practical solutions.

Ensure consistency and compliance across employment-related templates, forms, and internal documentation.

Maintain and refine contract management processes and legal workflows.

Support employee lifecycle events, including onboarding, transfers, promotions, compensation changes, leaves of absence, and offboarding.
Qualifications

Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.

5+ years of employment law experience gained in a law firm, financial services organization, asset manager, hedge fund, investment bank, or comparable corporate environment.
