Associate Attorney
A respected law firm is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney with 3-10 years of personal injury litigation experience. The ideal candidate will confidently handle district court trials, assist partners with circuit court matters, and play a key role in overseeing roughly 250 pre-litigation cases in partnership with the 9-person paralegal team.
This role is best suited for an attorney who is highly organized, proactive, and enjoys both litigation work and running a busy pre-litigation docket.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a significant caseload of pre-litigation personal injury matters in coordination with paralegals.
- Independently try district court cases.
- Assist partners with circuit court litigation, including discovery, motions practice, depositions, and trial preparation.
- Conduct and defend depositions of clients, witnesses, and experts.
- Draft and argue motions, pleadings, and litigation-related briefs in Maryland and D.C. courts.
- Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, insurance carriers, medical providers, and court personnel.
- Develop litigation strategies that align with the firm’s mission and client goals.
- Maintain accurate case tracking and contribute to a collaborative, team-focused environment.
Required Qualifications
- Active bar admission in Maryland and the District of Columbia (must).
- Virginia bar admission strongly preferred (major bonus).
- 3-10 years of experience handling personal injury matters.
- Prior experience trying district court cases.
- Strong legal writing, oral advocacy, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage a high-volume caseload with strong attention to detail.
- Client-centered communication style and ability to work collaboratively within a small-firm environment.
